Version 1: Around late 2008, I began work on a re-vamp of a pixel Pokèmon Pikachu I have found around the net. From the picture I assumed it was a 1st generation PP, but found details of the 2nd generation. I thereafter decided to make both instead. This version took a couple of hours and continuous referring to various subjects. I had felt happy with the general feel of it, and decided to stick in the small view of Pikachu in the window to complete the look. I HAD planned to pixelate the window and text, but never got a round to it.
Version 2: After the time my computer got wiped in early 2009, I made plans to remake a few of my previous works. (Any that I can remember clearly, anyway.) Remaking the two PP's was a project was somewhat unhappy to rework, since I felt the first couldn't be topped. In any case, I tried my best to get my references back and build the two from scratch. I tried my best to recall my previous tactics, but decided that it would be best to wing it for the most part, as it just might turn out better than expected.
In the end, I had a pal of mine find Version 1 somewhere in his computer, and comparing the two, there are many noticeable differences. V2 has much lighter colors as V1 is more precise in shape. V1 has more continuous but repetitive shading, while V2 is more realistic and follows the rules more meticulously. The two in V1 look more related, while the two in V2 has more realistic differences. I'll eventually combine and perfect the design after learning what needs to be done, hopefully include a nice little pic in the window of the device, and maybe even enlarge the whole thing. We'll see...
